Development squad swimming lessons

1 coach per 15 swimmers

The Leopold Swim School Advanced Swim Squad prepares swimmers for competitive swimming in the pool and/or surf and consolidates their skills so they have the endurance needed to be safe and competitive.

These specialist swimming groups are held weekly with the squad working as a team using specific drills to gain strength, endurance, speed, stroke maintenance, competition advice and an effective butterfly stroke.

All children who have completed all levels during their swimming lessons are invited to join our squad because we hold the firm belief that each swimmer needs at least two years of squad swimming before they can be as safe as possible in open water.

Families often choose development squad swimming lessons if their child has shown an interest in swimming as a sport. Because of our extensive competition background, we provide advice and help children develop skills for:

  • open water swimming
  • Surf Life Saving competition, and
  • advancement to club swimming.

Budding surfers and families who enjoy water sports like skiing, jet-skiing, paddle-boarding and boating should also consider development squad swimming because it gives them the endurance to be able to swim at least 1km to assist them in getting out of trouble.

As well as children who have passed through our Geelong kids swimming lessons program, we also welcome those who have previously swam at other schools and are looking for stroke correction. Of course, we ask everyone coming to our school to take part in an assessment first, so we can be sure your child has the skills to work comfortably within this group.

As well as Development Squad Swimming, Leopold Swim School also holds private swimming lessons Geelong and adult swimming lessons for people wanting to improve their stroke be more competitive in ironman and triathlon competition.
